VW Campervan Hire
The original Volkswagen campervans first appeared in 1950 derived from the very successful Volkswagen Beetle car. They were called the Type 2 and the first variation with the split windscreen was confusingly called the Type 2 T1. These vans are very collectable and generally have fanatical owners who cherish them on a daily basis. The later Type 2 T2 became the classic ‘hippie van’ and there are some specialist VW campervan hire companies who restore these vehicles and use them for the rentals. We don’t do this, purely for the fact that having reliable vehicles that can be serviced and repaired quickly has to take priority over anything else! It is interesting how most of these companies tend to advertise them for uses like wedding hire, maybe they don’t think they are reliable enough for a proper holiday?
If you would like a more modern VW campervan we do have a few based on the much more modern Volkswagen T5 van. The T5 is a very popular base vehicle for the manufacturer, Auto-Sleepers.
